Oh right! It's a different story here in the UK, branded PCs such as Dell or eMachines usually work out cheaper when you take the monitor into account as well...

Anyway, the processor (CPU) is the heart and brain of the PC. It's a complicated subject but basically the more powerful the processor is, the faster and more future-proof the PC will be.

The actual power of the CPU is dependent upon many factors, but in consumer terms there are three main things to consider: It's speed measured in Ghz, the number of cores it has and the bus type, which will be either 32bit or 64bit.

Dual or Quad core 64bit CPUs are the ones to go for if you have the money

VAT is Value Added Tax..A core2duo processor is around Rs6000 (around 75Łuk) I guess.I'd go for the Dual.I'm hoping to buy a pc for home(not entertainment)but take it as entertainment.Which would be best(I feel core2duo is too advanced)Maybe dual core...Is there something Veeery different from them? Will one be faster and one slower?@aautif,what's the use of a graphic's card anyway?Gonna read intel's site www.intel.com...

Ok i found this just now..

For 30k, you can actually build a pretty good system.

Go for the following config. Not the exact, but somewhat similar..:

Intel Core 2 Dup E4500 (2.2GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)

2GB RAM Duall channel @667 Mhz

250GB hdd

128 MB Nvidia Geforce 8300 GS
A 17" or 19" TFT.

So cheap pcs! What about a 20inch FLAT and SLIM screen! What's the price...anyone knows?I'm gonna note down all the configurations you provided. And then, come up with a suitable idea of OUR progress. The model no. Of intel you gave..is it core2duo?I'm seeing that A computer would be great under Rs30000 with lots of features.But..I don't believe in lg.Is that a slim screen one?I'm really excited.

This is the one i got.Availability might be an issue tho.If you are in big city like mumbai, delhi etc it wont be a problem, tho u will have to spend some time to get the best prices..

The E2180 belongs to core 2 duo family (a bit cut down version),it has only 1MB cache and clock of 1.8GHz.
