> P1i battery runs dry in less than 12h

@dagMX: nope, I don't use SwissManager.
@Sammy_boy: no, it hasn't been used in damp or wet conditions, as far as I am aware.
When I noticed this during christmas, I was in an area where the phone was attached via UMTS but the connection was really poor (1 bar only). Could that have an effect?
In fact, it seems my colleague may have the same issue with his even newer P1i.

A tip I once read, don't know if it works - but it's so simple, it's got to be worth a go:
Shut down the phone, remove the battery, press and hold the power button for 20s or so, replace the battery and restart.
It's suposed to reset the chip that handles power management to factory default, as I say I've absolutely no idea if this does anything at all...good luck!

My W960i (with only the BST-33 battery, 950mAh) has been running down extremely quickly the last few days, which I put down to the fact that where I´m staying the coverage is between 1 bar and zero (and I keep being asked to rescan for a new network). The phone is locked to UMTS to prevent further drainage through swapping from GSM to 3G, and Wi-Fi is also disabled. Bluetooth is on, but to be honest that consumes very little power.
The battery lost 50% of its charge overnight, doing absolutely nothing, so I figure coverage is the most significant cause of the drainage.

So in other words you only have 3G coverage in your area? No GSM? Thats strange. Otherwise i'd say switch to Gsm only if there was coverage.

There is GSM coverage, but I want 3G as most of my use has been data (95% I'd say as over Christmas very few people will call me).
Unless there's no 3G at all, I see no reason to have the phone switching backwards and forwards. That would only drain the battery quicker.
Of course, locking it to GSM would be the best solution (far less battery consumption in standby mode) - if I wasn't concerned about data speed.

I wasn't aware I could lock it to GSM. How do I do that?

Just read the P1 White Paper and you easily see that UMTS spends 65% more battery than GSM !!!
P1 Talk time
-GSM up to 10 hours
-UMTS up to 3.5 hours
I believe it's even worst if UMTS coverage is bad.

My W960i is SIM-free and you have the (rather rare) option to lock it to 3G or GSM, as well as dual mode. It's in the more menu when you go to "mobile networks".
Some networks will remove the ability to lock to one or the other, or at best only allow you to lock to GSM! It's nice to have all the options, as I'd prefer not to jump from GSM to 3G all the time (that alone really plays havok with mobile data).
Standby time is a problem, but Qualcomm have (or will soon) release a new 3G chipset that should HUGELY reduce power consumption for 3G.

Put your P1 in flight mode and see if battery drain is the same, you will be able to eliminate GSM/3G issues that way.
One of my previous P990s had developed the same problem where the battery was draining at about 10% / hour. It was a hardware problem and the phone was replaced by SE.
