@dagrim

I've never owned a n73 however if i am not mistaken it was marketed as a camera phone whereas the p1 is not marketed as such. Based on that fact alone the n73 should in theory produce much better pictures. But from what i have personally seen not only in this review but also in others(although i'll admit many of the comparissons were not p1 vs n73, most were k800 vs n73) n73 quality does tend to be quite bad.

I'm not saying the p1 has great picture quality the green tint annoys me a lot, although a slight colour adjustment on my fav pics and i can get rid of it (i shouldn't have to do this mind you)

And while i agree the p1 does produce a lot of noise remember for the most part we are increasing the megapixels but not sensor size of phone cameras meaning such adverse effects are only to be expected.

The one thing which i have found with nokia cameras and indeed in my experience as have so many others is the fact that Nokia uses some sort of noise removal which even in good light can lead to some awful pictures because it just smudges the details.

Also in respect to the night mode on the p1i, i never noticed it before but you are right, while on screen it seems to make a differnce switching between modes when the picture is finally taken there seems to be no difference whatsoever.

@5nak3:

Perhaps I was just lucky with my N73

But I know the N73 was advertised as such (a camera phone) and I do find the P1i shots to be just fine. Speed on the N73 was a bit low btw... this is better in the P1i.

And the noise removal filter is hideous indeed for the N73, but I've never had any problems with it in normal light.

Ah well, it's also a matter of taste of course. All in all I rate the P1i a bit lower for pictures (perhaps some improvements in future firmware updates?) but knew that when buying it...

While the green tint is horrible and in that case Nokia does have a significant advantage over the P1 a simple colour correction in a photo program should be easy enough. It shouldn't be the case and SE should really have fixed the problem but it works at least.
