The processor speed is the same for the P1 and the P990. The amount of RAM makes a difference in the P1, since you can keep applications open. But I wouldn't trade in my P990 because of its keyboard, flip and larger screen. The P1 keyboard is no good for me.

P1 is much faster than P990, and it is not only because of more RAM (which indeed made P1 the real beast). For example contact app opens very fast as well as editing any contact which was not the case with P990, etc.
