Maybe that was a year-specific focus/strategy.
I think it'll be otherwise this year.

I guess that you are right. And the next step is maybe even quad-band GSM with quad-band 3G. I mean, they should add the new UMTS freguency 900 Mhz, which I know is used for example in Finland (by Elisa).

(There is also the other new 3G frequency - 1700 Mhz, used for example by eMobile in Japan)

Pretty soon, phones will be more radios than anything else! A truly "world" phone will need -

GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
3G: 850, 900, 1700 x 2, 1900, 2100 MHz

Hopefully the now-reopening 700 MHz band will be truly global and simplify this mess.

Finland is part of Europe, the last time I looked at a map, so why are they developing their own spectrum?

So if sells a boat load of phones will Esato pick up a whole lot more US members?

I should imagine there would be a new influx of American members. SE's market share in the US was somethinig like 3% a year of so ago. Not sure what it is now but there is bound to be more US members, it is market of over 200 million after all.

Didn't they say that some new models will be released in the US before anywhere else? Our turn to be envious for a change I guess.
