How sure are you about hk generic?

@ threadstarter, I would wait. Stick around for comments on the next fw upgrade and watch to get newest build as possible.

Yes, I still plan to wait...

@holeinone, they're not quite $400 yet, but it's getting there. CTI-Miami sells them unlocked & unbranded for about $430 right now, that's the cheapest in the US so far froma reliable non-eBay source.

There's also a chance AT&T will pick this up, so I may get one then via contract renewal. Then I'll reflash it with generic FW and get it unlocked.

I'll keep on eye out for the new FW thread when it exists. Thanks!

AT&T may get the K850i, but it won't be in Q1.. Maybe Q2 or Q3 of this year.

I too was waiting, but got tired of all the bad press. Here in the U.S, there are no contracts with O2 which lets you return a bad phone on the fly. To spend $400 bucks then have to live with a lemon or send it back for repair which often takes weeks, well.. that's a headache I don't need.

After 5 years with SE, I'm making the move to Nokia.. Let's see how it goes.

For the first 30 days, AT&T lets you exchange your phone in-store for any reason. You can swap for the same phone or a different one altogether. After that (up to a year), you can only exchange for the exact same phone, and only via phone (call to obtain replacement) & mail (AT&T sends you a new phone + prepaid return packaging for your old one).

But if the K850i gets under $400 w/o subsidy anytime soon, I'll just buy it unlocked/unbranded from an independent retailer.

As for Nokia... to each their own. I just came back from Nokia to . I mainly couldn't stand the UI. I also missed the free "Fun'n'Downloads" content from .

I'm basing my choice to leave SE because the horrible press the latest round of phones have gotten. My W810 is solid, but the camera broke.

my friends K790a has problems (severe) with the joystick
my friends S500i has cracked keys after 2 days of use
my friends W850i cracked ALL his key's in the first week, he's sent it back to ATT over 5 times, same result every time.

AND NOW, the horrid feedback from the K850i? Man, I'm done with hoping my new SE doesn't fall apart out of the box...

The Nokia I'm looking is the opposite in terms of of bad feedback to SE... 1 / 10 is bad, instead of 1 / 10 being good.

I may be back.. but not until SE corrects their problems.

The firmware update coming within the next days, will kill most of the remaining bugs and will drastically enhance the performance.

So has the latest firmware fixed the dark photo problem? What other bugs are still present now?

Can anyone else comment on how the K850 is after firmware 37?

What bugs are remaining?
