Have you Enabled POP Access in your Mail. To do that Go to your Mail account from the PC, then Go to Settings, Enable POP Access.

Check your Incoming and Outgoing Server Addresses, i will show you my configuration for Gmail.

Basic Tab:
Account name: gmail (any name you wish).
Your Name: your Name
Email Address: yourname@gmail.com
Connection Type: POP3

Inbox Tab:
Incoming Server Address: pop.gmail.com
Username: Yourname
Password: ********
Download Restrictions: Just Headers ( or as you like)
Receive using Group: Internet

Outbox Tab:
Outgoing Server Address: smtp.gmail.com
use smtp Authentication: Yes
Use inbox Login Details: Yes (or as you llike)
Username: yourname
Password: ********
Send using group: Internet.

Then Go to More -> Advanced

Incoming:
Secure Connection : SSL
Incoming Mail Port: 995
Secure password authentication: No

Outgoing:
Secure connection: SSL
Outgoing mail port: 465
Use MIME encoding: No (try between Yes and No, if your mail support this).

Save the Settings and try,
