I have just upgraded to the sandisk M2 4gb and it works fine, it slowed things down initially but seems as fast now as before.

. . . You say that file manager works fine, do you mean that you can choose to play music in the music player from the file manager? . . .

You can play the music from the file manager (although not using the Media Player) OK. You don't get the full functionality this way though. I've set up Playlist for albums I most freq use which helps, but defeats the point of having a large card with so much choice. It is good is you have movies as it can hold a load. I have about 1600 song & 4 films and plenty of space for pictures.

So will it not work the same as my w880 then? when selecting an album to play I go into Music from the File Manager then into the album I want, then go to More>Music Player>Play All. Is this option not available on K850? It would be great if someone could check for me.

I too have a 8GB MicroSDHC card in mine.

But my song list is not so slow to navigate (although it certainly could be more resposnive), but I guess that is because I haven't filled my phone with that many songs yet... Maybe the the song list just gets slower and slower the more songs you have on the memory card (perhaps obvious...). But surely SE will fix it soon... can't be hard to cache all songs in memory to speed that list up...

BTW, here's a promising tracking/mapping software program to use your HGE-100 with: Wayfinder Active. Get it (free) from http://www.activeoutdoor.com/Activeoutdoor/RegisterFreeDownload.

Never tried it that way before, but just did and no, you can't do that on the K850 which is a shame as once you've got to the song the Media Player is fine. The new firmware is due soon so it may not be an issue for much longer. Also, others have reported that their Media Player works OK with a lot of songs, so it possible there's something about my files that it doesn't like and not a general issue with the Media Player.

Erikr - thanks for the link

Do you get the same problem as me when trying to play music straight from the music player? It doesn't seem to be able to keep the tracks in the right order. But when I do it the way I described they play in the correct order in the music player. All my music files are in AAC format with album art. I use itunes to convert CDs to AAC. Could any of those factors be causing this problem, or is it a known problem with SE phones?

Windowlicker - Yes. In media player it chooses some random order for the songs but in FM it show them correctly. I think that's because I have the track number at the start of the file name and FM lists them in filename alpha seq. I think MP should use the track id within the file properties but gets it wrong. I used iTunes to rip but have them as MP3 rather than AAC.

Hmmm. Its weird that this is such a long running problem with SE phones. Its been the only problem I've had with my w880 since I got it a year ago. Why have they not fixed it yet?
Not sure what to do now. If the w910 suffers from the same problem then I'm stuck because it might not have the ability to do it the way I do on my w880 (choosing an album to play in Music Player from the File Manager). If they've not managed to fix the problem on older phones with firmware updates, then I'm thinking they probably wont on the new update for the k850 I dont want to have to switch to Nokia!!

i have an 8GB minisdhc card and i uploaded a few albums using SE media manager 1.1 which is available at the SE site. when i play the songs form a particular album thru the media player it plays them in the correct album order unless shuffle is turned on. Also i haven't experienced slow performance but again this is maybe because i only loaded a few albums (about 600 mb) i am running the unbranded firmware 037 waiting anxiously for the new one. hope it helps
