@kewsvnet

Have you not heard about S60 Touch UI coming later this year and not all Nokia's have bad battery life E61 and the E90 for example have 1500aMh Li-Polymer batteries that easily last days whilst utilising all there functions you really shouldn't believe all the propaganda you read you know.

I had been wondering what the next step in phones will be. After all of the features (gps, WiMax or whatever is next for data transfer, wifi, etc.) what will be the next big innovation, pop out screens that allow your device to literally be like a laptop?

@Boinng and all,

I don't know how it has manged to escape so many of you but Nokia makes two distinct ranges of smart phones, N Series are Multimedia devices and E Series are business devcies.

IMO the growth in smart phones is going to be led by multimedia smart phones not business smart phones as these have already reached virtual saturation point.

Don't under estimate Nokia in this filed they know exactly what they are doing both with OVI and with there coming touch UI. You don't get 40% market share and to be number one for so long with out good reason that's for sure.

I'm sure the distinction has passed nobody, but I don't think it's as clever as you imagine either. I'm one of the many smartphone consumers that expects a balance of multimedia and business from their device, and that's where phones like the X1 triumph over anything that Nokia have on offer. It's ridiculous that Nokia have no touchscreen phones even now; even more silly that if I want a qwerty keyboard I'm stuck with either the folly of an E90, or something frankly boring like the E61.

Services like OVI may give N series owners something to do with their toys, but they do absolutely nothing to attract anyone else - IMO. Anyone that fashion conscious is just going to go straight to the iphone.
