Thought I'd add my name to this list of people having probs with the web - resolved now after finding this page with the un-tick proxy suggestion. Thanks a lot.
Does anyone know if O2 are even aware of the issue yet? The guy I spoke to said it must be a fault with either the sim card or the phone!

Motorola A780 owner here.

I too found my O2 connection suddenly stopped working at the end of January / beginning of February, but confusingly this was just after I tried to get my contract changed and I assumed that these events were related. After being assured by O2 customer service that nothing was different at their end and that I should try cleaning my SIM, I eventually found this forum thread.

The instructions that worked for me were slightly different, so I'll record them here. My phone's options don't mention using a proxy, but under the Profiles option in the Setup menu of Opera you can edit the "Primary gateway IP" and "Port" of the profile you use to connect. I deleted all the values here, which gets stored as zeros. The connection then works instantly.

Thanks for sharing your expertise guys.

Jebus !!!!!!!!!
what is going on ???

every few months I have to re-input my O2 settings manually !

The settings that O2 send over the air don't work, it seems there are constantly new configurations ! The data technicians based in Wales don't seem to know what is going on, they give me old settings and then just bluff it and I finally hang up !!!!

Yet my T-Mobile data dongle works perfectly without any bother ?*!

So ...who has the latest settings .....anyone ????? huh ???

(for my P1i)

I have never used a proxy.
Like some of the other posters here I have tried the O2 Postpay WAP settings that O2 send out and they don't work properly.
