but serously still seems like a silly symbol to use, anyway the p990 was meant to have keys that would be hard for people with chubby fingers thats probably one of the reasons why the changed it to a dual key set up on the p1i. but i was just saying i found the p990 keybad far better to use, could type faster on it.

The "weird" handwriting recognition symbol for the underscore is a standard "graffiti 2" symbol. If you've used a PDA before, you would be familiar with this.

The underscore graffiti symbol is the so-called "sideways i"; the upward stroke you do before and after that tells the device that you are writing a symbol or punctuation. The upward stroke is standard for all symbols. The first stroke signifies the beginning of the symbol and the second ends it.

Hope this helps.

I have to agree with you @zub, having been a fan of the P Series and having owned a P910, P990 and P1. The P1 keyboard is the worst and I could not get used to it. The two letters on a single button is a crazy idea to me which seems to work so some, but definitely not me. The fact that I can't use it like a "normal" candybar phone as one can when the flip is on the P990 for example is also a serious source of gripe for me. Single hand use of the P1 for messaging for example is extremely tricky and takes A LOT of getting used to!

yay finally someone who has similar views

if only there were a p1i with a p990i fascia, that would be perfect.

I would never trade the thickness of the P1 with a P990 with flip on.
Too bulky for my pocket.

I don't have one yet; it's ordered and on its way. I think I'll get used to the keypad, but if I don't, I'll be sure to let you know.
