The simplicity SE implemented is the automatic switching between internet sources as they become available/unavailable, without the running applications (i.e. browser) bothering about that.
If you want this to work reasonably well, then obviously you can't have the 100% manual options!
I like the UIQ3 way of working. If you don't, then switch to other brand/OS -- one that forces you to maually switch between sources all the time, and having to close the browser each time you switch.
It's your choice.

You don't have to go for another OS for that.
Creating separate groups, as described in my previous post, provides full manual control and works very well.
