I say take it back to where u got it from,they will fix it free of charge...
just did the same with mine n got it fixed!
Still not happy with it tho n wldnt recomend them to any1!
still got me w810i 2 fall back on thank fk!
prob go back 2 nokia again,

The battery cover was so hard to get off as well, dont get me started on the M2 cover AHhhhh
EDIT - cant you just buy another keypad from ebay for £3 / $6? I know its SE's fault not yours but still

I have a 2 weeks old s500 and iam satisfied with it. Looks solid for the time being. Very nice bright screen,good signal and call quality.
I put 2 giga m2 card,works fine.
Music through koss headphones is better than W890 i own. Sound is fuller and more dynamic. This dissapointed me because i was expecting newer dedicated walkman phones to have improved sound quality but i am afraid this is not the case. S500 beats W890

Yeah the call quality is actually the best I have ever had, blew my W950i out of the water, and I love the day and night theme, it has a great blend of form and function. But these build quality issues will most likely creep on the both of us to.
Also can you not get an even better walkman with the S500i by flashing it into a W580 – giving you walking 2.0 or something similar
