Messaging application is fine, provided that:
1- It's really NOT slower than the built in application
2- E-mails are structured in parallel with such mainstream clients such as Outlook, Thunderbird or the Bat WITH proper synchronization options.
3- There are no drawbacks or restrictions crippling the program due to Symbian signed requirement.

i've been using the p1 for some time now, and i am just curious what everyone is complaining about the slowness of the app. I find if left in the memory it opens up at a speed which i at least find to be acceptable. I agree it is not instant but I don't really see a problem with it.

Could someone just explain the issue with the messaging app, i've not used any Nokia smartphones and while i know that my previous devices had almost instant message access they were the so called "dumb phones"

Although treaded SMS would be a great addition sure.

5nak3, I also keep it in ram but it doesn't help much.
Application itself opens in reasonable time, but when you receive a new sms and tap 'yes' to open it, then first messaging app is launched, then your inbox is shown, than the screen flickers while refreshing the view at least twice, then a 'busy' message is flashing for a while and then your message is displayed. The whole process takes at least five seconds . If you want to reply, you have to wait again for the reply window to open for a couple of seconds.
When you create a new sms and want to choose a contact from a phonebook, it takes like five seconds as well even though launching contacts from the main screen is almost instant.
So that is what we complain about, I do a lot of texting a lot so I know what I'm saying

I want this applis. on my P1i :
- IRremote

- Video Editor (similar to VideoDJ).

Hmm, i guess i never thought of it like that, for me i use the messaging app more for emails so i'm expecting to wait while it loads the emails with so that isn't a problem. I guess i can see how if you text a lot all those delays will annoy you.

I used to text a lot but since changing my contract around a bit i'm now just phoning people as it is easier for me. So i guess this isn't a major issue for me.

However, i wouldn't say no to a better application.

Speaking of message apps by the way, does anyone know of a way to get hotmail emails forwarded to the phone? I managed to get the gmail pop3 server set up nicely, but cant seem to sort the hotmail ones.

hmm, i had a look at the momail, but it seems to want to update my settings for my phone, i dont really understand why that is.

Also when it sets up its own account, it recieves the hotmail emails via a momail web profile rather than my O2 profile, will this end up charging me extra despite having an unlimited web bolt on?

Any input?

Thanks

@5nake3

Change/control That the email setting uses the sane "connect with" that you use when surfing with your O2 contractor
e-mail-->settings-->MOMAIL-->More-->(Redigera(in swedish)just above delete)-->scroll down to connect with.

For the P1i, something that allows sync with Outlook for Contacts etc when you are using Active Sync (Dataviz) for email sync. For some reason a s soon as you use Active Sync P1i to PC sync no longer works.
