Mine was down yesterday til about 8pm, i rang talk talk and complained, said i wasn't happy and I wanted to leave. They were like oh mr procter, we're so sorry to hear that etc and hey presto my net is working and it seems to be quicker lol

I'm using it and yes it is unreliable, although it is free so we shouldn't expect too much I guess. Like yours, my connection can cut out for quite a while and I usually just use the time to give my router a rest. It is annoying though, especially when it happens when I'm playing an online game or something. When our contract ends with TalkTalk we will be changing.

how long is the contract 18months?

just seen this on the talktalk site, might be worth a try:

http://www.talktalk.co.uk/tal[....]y+broadband+disconnects+itself

and

http://www.talktalk.co.uk/tal[....]s%20itself&showFAQ=IDLESETTING

may cure it?

Do you want ADSL or cable PK?

if cable you're pretty much stuck with Virgin..

if ADSL, it's a mindfield, I've never ever had an issue with Pipex, but there new tariffs look shocking, Wifey joined fast4 not so long ago, and she has not had net connection twice since then..

UKFSN or ADSL24 are pretty much the best ISPs out there at the moment, if you do a lot of data transfer......

both rolling contracts, no throttles, no port blocking, no traffic shaping.....

@PK

They're worth a try as you say, but I wouldn't expect miracles.

They're aimed more at solving very regularly timed bouts of no internet caused by your computer rather than intermittent but still regular bouts of crapness caused by a s****y ISP

Oh yeah, and virgin are one of the other ISP's that have signed up to the Phorm spyware thing.
