I ordered another P1 from Play.com today so I won't have any "downtime". I should be able to get a refund next Tuesday anyway.
Incidentally, Play have reduced the price since I ordered originally from £259.99 to £249.99, plus you can get 4% off with Quidco (£10.00) so it's almost a bargain...

I'm pleased to report that my new P1 arrived yesterday and there are no problems with the speaker. What's funny is that it's the same build date (08w7) so it's surprising that one had a fault.
