Is there anyting else I need besides XS++?
What should I do now that I have them?

matt, thanks for the screenshot but where do I put that script? What is GDFS? Does it come with these files? I don't have a back up of anything, the phone now has the k800i firmware, is there k790a firmware still remaining inside the phone as well?


I have to say thanks to everyone, you're being really helpful!
Though I have to admit that I'm still way over my head on this, I'm trying to understand as much as I can before actually doing something to the phone, I'm really scared to screw it. Tomorrow I will go to a friend's house to use his PC and give it a try.

In the meantime, anything else that you could tell me about how to go at it would be very useful.

I couldn't get a hold of my friend to use his PC today but at least that gave me more time to digest all your advice and the tutorials I've read so far.

I still have a few questions though.

I'm trying to find all I need to get started, could you confirm that this is ok?

I think that I'm only missing the customization files but where do I get them?
And how do I know what I need, files for k790a or for k800i?
Should they be for America/Mexico or for Europe/France?
Does it matter?

And if I make a backup of the GDFS, will it work if something goes wrong even though right now the phone thinks its a k800i?

And one more, will everything work on a PC in french?

the custom....

well, xs++ provides a pack of customs. when you press the Flash button you will check the finalization box, select the phone model and then the custom. after done all that, press flash.

Gracias Tranced!

I just discovered another nice surprise this morning, the phone is not charging anymore and when I connect the charger it says:

Charging alien battery

The battery is showing 50% charge, can I still flash it with this amout of power left?

Any answers to my previous questions?

i did that once with an old k750, i was very lucky i didnt brick the phone as the battery cut out for some reason.

i tend to charge the battery to 80%-90% before i start to reflash them

I finally flashed my phone from k800i back to k790a but something definitely went wrong, (though at least the phone is back to k790a and the battery is charging again) these are the symptoms:

no network coverage (all the time)
cannot find other networks (all the time)
asks to insert sim (sometimes) (even though it has a sim)
says inactive sim (sometimes)
asks to insert correct sim card (sometimes) (it has the original sim card)
Turns off & on intermittently (sometimes)
the keyboard flashes slowly (sometimes)
Weird sounds when turning on or off, it ticks instead of emitting normal sounds and music player doesn't work well too. (all the time) (but radio sound is normal)


I installed usb drivers.
I used XS++ to flash this main, fs and customization:

K790_R6BC002_MAIN_GENERIC_EV_RED52.mbn

Should I have used this instead? (telcel is the original brand of my phone)

Why does it say custpack cent_europe twice if I specified to use america_2?

Should I try other main, fs or customization files?

If I flash again, will the gdfs and the imei match?

What should I do to make it work here in France with my french sim card?
