..well, now that I think about it (and read your post a little more carefully)

, I suppose.. it would make perfect sense that the server tries to connect with an idle dialogue when the account has "push" enabled, whether the push always on is enabled or not. But I had some problem with a non- push imap account before.. with the scheduler, so I assumed that was the problem..
Can you check if it works as expected if you have push off on the account you're using the interval checker on, and the "always on" enabled..?
(Maybe we were jumping the gun a little here..)
edit: and with the connections - in the push always on dialogue, you're choosing a specific account - is that used with the interval checker, if you have an "idle" interval set (and push enabled in the accounts)..? (...really, this is about as intuitive as the "background light settings...

)
