i watched a TV show that tells LCD is better now. Because Plasma TV's doesnt last the long as LCDs. They tell that the plasma in the screen can worn of in a few years. Not like LCDs, but what I like about Plasma is when you look at it, in every angle, you see the pictures clearly and with the right colors, not like with LCD if you look it to the sides, etc it will not display the right color.
Its true that Plasmas may not last as long, but modern, decent brand plasmas and LCDs are rated to last for more than 60,000 hours of watching. Which is something like watching TV 6 hours a day for about 30 years. Most people change their TV every 3-4 years apparently.
Plasmas actually show better contrasts in colours, but LCDs show better details. Plasmas use slghtly more power and can after extensive use be prone to 'burn in.' - Where an image gets burnt into the screen. With LCDs you must find one with a wide viewing angle, otherwise from certain angles the colour accuracy and image is distorted. However: If you buy a modern and good brand TV, it does not matter what you get as today the technologies have caught up with each other so much there is not a huge difference.
Generally when you're buying large sized (50" or bigger) screens, Plasma is the cheaper option, but LCDs have more pixels on a similarly sized screen. Below 40", LCD is the way to go for pricing. Generally you won't find very small plasmas anyway.
Bringing it back to the topic, I don't understand why they've made a small plasma when LCDs are so similar in quality, image and power consumption. LCDs are a lot easier to make small versions of too. It just doesn't seem worth it, apart from to cash in on those people that know nothing about TV screens. In that case, they are taking advantage of people.
