Funny how perceptions on one brand differ. I'm dumping my hp for a dell tomorrow. Been using my hp for 8 months now and am far from impressed. Also build quality of the dells is excellent.

Got my brand new dell 1721 inspiron 2.2gh, 2gb ram and 160gb hdd. My hp pavillon is no match for the dell in build quality, in fact it sucks. I'm putting the dell through its paces, it's too early but so far so good. It is also quite heavy which explains the excellent build.

Yeah, it wasn't cheap not that it was that expensive for me either. The one aspect where the hp has the slight edge is the screen, colours and brightness on my hp are nothing short of stunning.

I run a macbook and I must say the machines are really workable, I mean it does exactly what you want without having questions thrown at you in the form of pop up boxes. If I need to run windows I just switch the screen using vmware then xp (favorite windows OS) starts running.
Or restart and run windows only! Macbook specifications are becoming rather competitive, with 4gb ram, 2ghz + c2d @4mb l2 cache, 225mb gfx card this spec can work leopard easy, unlike the new OS vista.
I had this mac running on vista just to find it's just as good as vista built machines (with the same spec).

Well I don't have my own money so still have plenty of time to think. Altough Laura's iMac tempts me.

that x60 is poor specs if you ask me, small HDD and only 1 gig ram, plus not even core 2 duo...
not all people are looking for great specs on there laptops
When you are paying this much money for a piece of kit, I am pretty sure that you want the best specs you can get!

Greggy.
Agreed. Good specs first then all the gimmicks like touch screen.

everyone on here seems to call me that!
Not that I mind (very much) (I would mind in real life though people) (not that I'm having a dig).
Anyway, im sure some people will say that to get portability you need to loose some specs.
I would go for a standard macbook if I were you, you will not be disappointed and they are only 2.4kg.

well..in paul101's defence, X60 is a brilliant piece of hardware for it's segment ... I would certainly pick it over Air ... but it is not for everybody ...ehrrm...touchscreen junkies...
