If you have the time, inclination and are good with a soldering iron then you could use a magnifying glass to look for physical damage such as dry solder joints, broken tracks, split capacitors etc. I've managed to bodge repair a couple of motherboards that way in the past
But given the price of new low-end motherboards these days, is it worth it?
