You can check your emails with some providers, yahoo, talk21, o2 actually on the wap itself, or other companyies will provide a pop3 server so you can use the email in the messages folder, which is accessed by wap.

I bookmark the post-login pages of my Yahoo and BTinternet mail accounts so with one quick click on a short cut I can quickly see if I have mail or not... very handy
