Sorry to hear that you have lost your phone, personally I would have sent it back to the place where you bought the phone and left them to sort out the problem.
I have sent my phone through VF about 6-7 times and was hoping they would lose my phone so i could get a newer non-refurbished version but no such luck.
Hope you get it back soon.
Until then wax on, wax off, wax on, wax off, wa...........

Sadly it's not uncommon for this to happen, RIM "lost" my blackberry last year, after much talking, explaining, shouting a refurb was sent to me, but as you suggest, you've done your part of the deal, sent it to them, it's been signed for... and they've lost/misplaced it (bearing in mind it probably went to somewhere in Chipping Norton? They get close to 20k phones back a day, so loosing a few it's unfortunately inevitably part of the puzzle, just claim it was a lesser spotted rare pure gold K850i and you've realised you sent it with a 8gb M2 in it.........

Well apparently they have found the phone. Now the guy who left me the VM on me phone has said he will contact me with the tracking number etc, once its dispatched. Hopefully soon

I thought it was a replacement k850 they had given for a moment, since it was packed up in a little s.e new box etc n had sticker on me screen etc, but nah same one lol. fingers crossed it should work fine for me now.
