This is really good news. By the way I am waiting for highend phone from SE - I am wainting something between SE C905, SE G902 and W960. Mixed in one perfect phone.

Finally the penny dropped !
Thank goodness !
Although, now that they've helped kill off UIQ, what are they going to put into the high-end devices ?

LOL - they must be having a giraffe at this sentence:
"Falling demand for high-end phones, the result of protracted economic anxiety,
have led to an abrupt downturn for the firm."
Sony Ericsson haven't had a proper, competitive high end phone for years and attempts at getting there have been canceled along the way for not being upto scratch.
My thoughts exactly. Falling demand for SE's high end phones they obviously mean.
By the time they get round to one again releasing something cutting edge consumers will have long since shifted to the iPhone (regrettably) or a WM device like the Touch HD. Shame really!

You guys are reading too much into this. He just said that they would need to concentrate on the high end which to me is not the same as they are going to.

The downturn in demand for high end devices is less to do with the economy and more to do with the fact that UIQ3 has not recovered properly from the P990i fiasco. Even the P1i and it's clones was far from perfect and the G series although better is too late and too low spec.
These idiots can believe what they want, but in reality the consumer (and some operators) have simply walked away. Strange the economic downturn for high end devices hasn't affected Nokia (N95) or HTC (Touch Pro) etc.
Just looking at the reviews of the Innov8 and Omnia, one can see that Samsung Mobile are trying where SE have failed. Maybe it's just too late for SE.
I suppose if the X1 is a success there is hope .... but going by recent events I am not holding out much hope.
The iphone is now being sold "pay as you go" at quite a low price, but whatever you think of the iphone good or bad it will steal SE customers.
Problem with SE is that they have no strategy and keep changing their focus every few months. That is why they will eventually go down the crapper!

the Xperia X1... SHould be great... Anyway it is the first

phone running on WM.

Designed (the software) by HTC and should be bug free (or at least have little bugs. Not like other

failures we have seen).
