if u dont know the lock code then certainly u cant master reset the fone....
heres the solution to this....
move the jog dial 1 step up> press *>move the dial 2 steps down> press*>move the jog dial 1 step down > press *
phone reset starts in no time ...
mak e sure u hav enof battry to power the process....
njoy...

If I'm not mistaken a master reset or even fw flash does not reset the phone lock code.
It's very easy to find out though (see blerk's post).

Yes Bro,it's very different between 'master reset' and 'internal disk format'.
Master reset only change ur setting system to default.
Internal format (using jog*),is clean up the internal disk,and then reinstal the OS Symbian.
