Come on you guys, I can't even install fring, don't make me salivate with ideas I could use my phone at hotspots and call nearly free via skype!

Don't worry,it's not THAT good. I mean, as a messenger Fring is worthless. Then, to call a mobile line of landline, you gotta pay, so nothing to lose there. VoIP works...not very good but I think it also has to do with the connection. But I never use it. Skype is also possible in theory but I choose to use my headset and laptop rather than my phone and it's also due to poor quality of Fring. It's also very fiddly to work with.

Care to elaborate on how you got the voip funtion to work? Whenever i try and use it, i get told that voip is not supported.

Have you installed the VOIP Audio & 3rdpartytele plug-ins?

VOIP just works. I donīt get any of those messages. It works on both wifi and 3g.

gforce23, those pluggins are only needed on the P990, not on P1, W960, g900 or g700

@701, we really do not agree in alot of things. My experience with fring as a messenger, is good. I use it everytime i have to message msn/skype/gtalk/msn/yahoo at same time. If i donīt want to connect to skype in a given time, i use slick instead.

Fring is now also cool because it gives email, facebook and twitter notifications

Regarding VOIP with it, i made calls fring to fring, fring to skype, and fring to msn, and it worked, not perfect, but good enough

I also make free SIP calls to landlines with voipbuster configured inside Fring.

Also, the point is using this on your phone, when you donīt have your pc around, or donīt want to turn it on. Of course VOIP experience is better on the pc.

So overral, fring is a very good app.

@ares:we really don't have to agree on everything. My experience with Fring is bad. Really bad. This app is not user friendly. At all. And aside of all the other, I'm esp not happy about the messenger.
The text is messy. In Twitter for example, you can't tell when a message ends and another user's message starts. The names are not higlighted, written in Bold or Italic, having a different color, anything like that. And it's not just Twitter,it's all of the other messengers in Fring.
And then it's the VoIp itself. No matter what connection I use ( here,at the office I have a 100 mbps) the sound is muffled, has distorsions and the caller's voice is interupting.
Overall a bad experience.

Yes,I can see that. I also don't think that everyone has to agree on something:that's the beauty-different strokes for different folks, how someone used to say:)
