wow you guys reply quick! and i'm relieved to hear that there ARE happy owners. yea thing is i'm headin to uni next year and it's gonna b so busy i'm nt allowed to get a job for at least a year so i wont b able to fund my phone buying habits thus i need sumthing gud that'll last a looong time....
Wel i saw a 2nd hand n82 for a slightly more expensive price, and im putting consideration into it as wel, however it's just so darn ugly compared to the k850i
lol the k850i seems like a mercedes benz, rather cool but unreliable....so yea i can live with slow-ish speeds etc( i'm used to nokia s60 phones

)
.i've got people interested in buying my u900, so i can almost afford one.
but yea worst comes to worst would SEUS be a good way to fix BROD?

same thing, in dilemma, dispite all the problems reported, my liking to K850i never vanishes, especially with the quicksilver
not sure when i'd be getting it....but i could see myself keeping one of the biggest flaw in mobile handset history, if i must say

but still i like it

i guess you are looking for a cheap high-end phone, what better than the near end-of-life K850i?
however, if you are going to be hanging on to it for a long time, DON'T BUY IT! imagine if you got a lemon (roll the dice!), it'll restart and BROD and do funny things, even untouched! could you live with that?

I've had mine since June 2008. I wanted a C902 but o2 wanted £159 for it, and that was on contract! But K850i was free.
I've had 1 software problem with it since i've had it. Where when a message would come through, the phone would vibrate and ring but the display wouldn't show the pop up screen to read it. All i got was the small SMS icon in the top of the screen.
So i just re-installed the firmware using SEUS and it's been fine ever since.
Every now and then it restarts. I notice especially it restarts most often when exiting the Camera application. But no BROD that everyone goes on about. Never.
I still don't know if i would recommend getting the K850i though. You'll wake up every morning wondering if your phone is going to last the day without getting BROD, and let's face it. If you're going 200 miles from your house and it happens and you need to make calls etc.. you're f**ked! So don't rely on it if you do get it. It's not worth it.
On the other hand, it is made from top notch materials. It's very durable, specially the screen!
