I'd just like to point out before you all shoot me down, I'm not racist/a white supremacist or anything like that, I just happen to think than Americans are that shallow.

That is such a fair assessment there fatreg! I can't help but think his race is likely to be his downfall.

"I thought this contest was fairly tight until Mccain chose his running mate, a rabid hypocritical religious fundamentalist might turn on the extreme right in the US, but to the average voter, she resembles something rather scary.
Obama should win".

I agree. On performance Obama should win but I wonder if the electorate will let him be the first black US president.

Abraham Lincoln was also a president.
He was the first US Black President , I think.

Noooooooooooooooooo!

You're talking about the 1800s when black people were really suffering in the US, actually worldwide. They had no rights whatsoever.

Abraham Lincoln was as white as McCain. There has never ever been a black president in the US.

This is 2008 and you are speaking of a minority. If Americans on the whole were that shallow Obama would not have the lead he has in the polls. (He has had a lead from the start too). McCain is too old and too Bush like. His whole campaign has been basically to dig updirt of Obama. Obama will win.

Whether or not America can still remain as big a superpower as they want remains to be seen. I see China and Asia on the rise in a big way.

Forgive my ignorance but I haven't watched 24 since the first series after which it went to sky.

But what happened to David Palmer??

EDIT: For those who lack a sense of humour or are denied the requisite intellect do detect humour as it is laid out in front of them. THE ABOVE IS A FINE EXAMPLE

Race realisticly could be a downfall, and it is a real threat.

I was browsing through the sky news site, and it said that a white supremacist group had serious plans of assasinating him.

Also on youtube, one of the imperial wizards of the ku klux klan, made such a serious threat concerning an assasination, the FBI were contacted.

I have to agree with fatreg here, I dont believe Americans will vote for a black president, for the reasons he highlighted.

I think fatreg is right too. Obama certainly deserves to win and seems like the right man for the job until you take race into account. America has too huge of a white supremacist society, and I bet that they will not give up on assassinating Obama until the job is done. America will be branded a racist country.

Obama, no question...

Whether that'll happen or not is another thing altogether...

Ignorance indeed. Becasue you know how TV is always reality right? What kind of fool uses a TV show as a basis. Whats next a nuclear bomb is going to be detonated on US soil? That was a TV show for crying out loud. Something like that would never happen.

Can I ask how old you are?

If you bothered to read further into this story you would have also read that after conducting initial investigations it was revealed that both involved didnt really plan it that well and were "not properly prepared". Meaning it was just a few loonies trying to come accross as something bigger.

There will ALWAYS be an element of the right wing. In Britain we have the BNP, in France they are also present but they are nothing more than a few angry skinheads who are either ex convicts with no prospects for the future or just confused, in most cases a combination of both.

Just remember it was America who for the most part on WW2 and in the process rid the world of a fanatical right wing following. Do you really think there are that many of them around? Grow up.

If McCain wins then they will stay in Iraq and I can only see more 9/11's on the horizon. Thats bad for America and bad for Britain and a lot of other countries.

Whoa man, what reason do you have to lash out at people like that? They are expressing their opinion, and whether misinformed or not, you can't go being so rude to them. Perhaps you should take your own advice.
