the important things to note (repeated several times through the thread by various authorities) are that li-poly batteries do not suffer memory effect, and should not be fully discharged- ideally you should just keep the phone "topped up" as often as possible.
these batteries only last for a limited number of charging cycles- discharging simply wastes these (and therefore shortens the batteries life).

Ok... so the bottom line is NOT to discharge my battery! lol. I don't know anything about the battery and the reason why I wanted to know how to discharge it is to prolong its life. If thats not nessary... even better

surely if the batteries only last a limited number of charging cycles then topping up when the phone doesn't need it is just running the battery life down.
