No, MNC (iirc) has to do with the length of the network code. Each network has a numeric identifier, MNC3 means (correct me if I'm wrong) that your phone will expect to work with three digit network codes as opposed to two.
What I was told about flashing was if you haven't hard locked your phone (by trying to guess the NCK as so many people do) then the software only reads data off of it, which means theres not much of a chance of you damaging your phone. The problems arise when you have to break a hard lock. That said, I tried guessing my NCK and failed - had to break the hard lock and my phone works fine. But these guys are right, it will void your warranty should something go wrong.

It will void the warranty even if you are successful. For all of you folks waiting for the P800 remember this. That unit will most likely cost at least $500-$600 with a contract extension. Should play around and try to unlock it I hope you have no problems afterwards because the warranty will be void whether you succeed or fail you will be SOL

Has anyone with a T68i from AT&T successfully unlocked their phone? If so, who'd you use?
I know AT&T does some odd things to their T68i's and was wondering if that includes doing something that makes it hard to unlock. I got a service cable from Logos Unlimited, bought a server log from them, and couldn't unlock my phone. After talking with the guy for a while we decided it was a bad cable but when I sent it back they tested it and said the cable was fine.

I've unlocked both At&t t68 and t68i, and had no problems. Took all of 5 minutes.

Go for it! I unlocked my phone this week - no problems. I got a T28 data cable and a log from UnLocKing.net It took 10 minutes.
I called AT&T tech support and they were the ones that suggested it.

How much did unlocking charge you per log? I got them at $8/log from those guys - the best price I've seen anywhere! Of course I did have to call them three times to get things working, but once they got my account setup things were very smooth.
