Ericsson has talked alot about a phone that uses GSM when you're away from home/office, and then connects to a basestation when you're at home/office. I wonder what has happened to this idea?
Is it possibly because mobile networks are becoming so cheap that there is no real need for this? I know of several friends (specifically in Sweden) who have terminated their fixed line phones, and only use a mobile phone (and broadband for internet)...
I wish I could cancel the home phone number, I mean honestly, who needs a second number to confuse people with - I am my mobile phone number... =)

yes... there was talk of making a combined DECT and GSM phone... it turned out... to a ordinary mobile phone

many companies today (like Ericsson for example) uses only GSM phones, even at the office... the so called wireless office.... you can use it as a normal phone with short numbers within the department (and it doesn't matter where you are located), and as a GSM phone for other calls...
