Well!
Still nothing works properly. The green coating flaked off the circuit board around the are of discolouration but nothing has changed. Nothing appears any different from before.
Many thanks for your suggestions.
I will keep the phone in case I need spares.

You might try to dive the mainboard of the phone (without the screen) in alchool and then dry it up. The alchool will evaporate and so will some water that might still there.
