LOL this lee781 in that voda forum is funny. he wrote: (In fact from memory i think Vodafone were in the running to get it in the UK in first place, just o2 seemed to go out of their way to make apple a deal they couldn't refuse. I'm sure vodafone would have the phone in a heartbeat if apple were going accross all networks, and imagine they'd probably fight it out with the best of them to get it if it was only going to be on one another carrier.)

It was Apple that actually came to O2 for the Iphone not O2 going to Apple for it.

Apple network anyone? Cant imagine that if the iphone sorry WHEN the iphone comes to Vodafone or Orange that they wont brand them. Dont think Apple will allow it and customers will be in uproar.

Vodafone and Orange both carry the iPhone already in other countries, without branding. O2 are quite happy to brand other phones (including their own XDA line of smartphones) but haven't messed with the iPhone. It's obvious Apple don't allow it, and customers wouldn't stand for it (at least now that they've been spoilt by two generations of unbranded iphone).

There's nothing to stop the networks from releasing their own apps. If they genuinely add value, customers will install them.
