I think the credit-card check thing is almost standard proceedure for some companies when ordering from outside their base country. I've had to do it two or three times now when ordering stuff from the States (US).

I have no objections on checking the credit card, on the contrary, but if it takes more than 4 days then something is wrong with this company.
By the way, as for sending Expansys an e-mail, I did this in early January and have yet to see a reply. So much for customer service!

Hmm,..strange,..A few days ago I got my bluetooth-card from Expansys.
No problems at all.
Yes, I too had to sign, take a copy (scan) the visa-card and drivers-licence, and send it back to them. Did it by email.
The things you needed to do, was explained very nicely in the mail from them
I did all this in the night time,..the day after I got a mail, that the order had been shipped.
Next day I had my bluetooth-card
So no problems at all for me,..clean nice service I believe

They've recently just done the same to me, I live just near London and have ordered A LOT from them with no hassle, including my T68 and a few accessories, but I ordered the communicam last week and they asked me to e-mail them to confirm it would be ok to send it to my home address. I've always had it delivered to work so maybe that's got something to do with it.

@wrinkle58: Maybe you should check that you spelled the mailaddress correctly...? Or maybe you just sent the mail to the wrong division in Expansys.... Your case is not typical I think. Sent the customerservice because I wanted to cancel an order, and 1 hour later they confirmed by mail that they cancelled that order. I'm now waiting for my TDK Bluetooth PC-card

The same thing happened to me. Had to fax them a copy of my driving license and both sides of the credit card. I think this was only because the delivery adress and the adress where your credit card statements are sent to are not the same.
Think they see it as suspicious when the goods go to another adress than the creditcard statments, makes good sense to me.
After everything was cleared I had my MP3 player nicely delivered to my home here in Shanghai. Unfortunately had to pay some tax to the government, but the player was still a lot cheaper then if I would have bought it here locally in Shanghai. It costs around 200 USD here and then it is nog even on stock!

DUKE : that could be the reason,..but its not
You see,..for me the delievery-adress and card-adress were the same,..but I too had to send driverlicense-copy and visa-card-copy.
My best guess is, that its because I ordered from outside UK,..but I might be wrong ??
