- isn't itunes native in windows? is it running in some sort of Mac emulator?
- can't I drag and drop in windows?
- I don't find windows hard to use!
- I rarely use DOS commands, If OSX is so good, why do I need to use unix commands? (though I am a developer and more than capable of using those non-descript commands!)
...and I'm not looking to be a sheep
sorry... just messing with you... I'm trying to decide which one off ebay I will buy as I want to get one sorted today as I'm not having any luck here.
Hopefully I'll be a mac user by the weekend, lets see if it makes me give up the vaio!

Who said Macs are better than PC's anyway? A friend of mine is Area Sales Manager for Apple and owns at least 10 Macs from a Quad Core Mac Pro to a 24" imac and a number of Macbooks and even he tells me that they crash on him frequently and he also dual boots windows on some of them to run his windows specific software and Macs get updated constantly thats why they don't need anti-virus and its not that Macs can't get virus's they can just that no one bothers making them because Macs have such a small market share if that increases then things may change
Macs are good for certain things but i wouldn't say they were superior in anyway to Windows PC's both are good at what they do and if run correctly there is little between the two so it just comes down to preference although to be fair i would admit that Macs are more attractive to look at

This is looking for thread, not a debate.
M wouldn't you be happy with a Powerbook G4? they're Sub £300 these days.

its MY thread and I can do what I want!
anyway, its not a debate, I'm just trying to get some expectation going as I have no real excitement about the prospect, but need a mac as the tool for iphone development
I've looked at G4's but they seem quite low spec and most seem quite tatty with cracks and all sorted. I hadn't realised that cracking around the housing, especially the mousepad, is such an issue.
so I'm looking more at middle ground, but still less than £500, just in case I (or my son who wants it for graphics etc as he's looking for a job in that area), like the Mac and make more use out if it

I plan to start with the
Stanford university free iphone developer course, which can also be downloaded from itunes
I guess it helps if you're a developer already

right, first questions!
how to make the mousepad react to taps rather than having to press the button?
does mac have the equivalent to windows update?
