A xenon flash also makes a huge difference to imaging.

Only in low light situations. I prefer to take photos in good lighting, no flash needed. Why do you guys want to give your camphones such a hard time? It's like buying a Ferrari and taking it to an off-road track to see how good it is in the mud!

I really think it's a necessity in my case. I take moderate amount of pictures and about the same amount is during day and during night, so it's important to have a proper flash. Even lots of pictures that are taken indoors, during daylight, are taken with the flash (auto mode) and it makes a difference. Not to mention all the pictures from partys that would be impossible to make without a xenon.

Digital camera is the ONLY alternative to a xenon flash on a mobile phone for point and shoot pictures in low light conditions, but I find them unnecessary for my amateur and spontaneous imaging. I also hate to carry around more than I have to.

If the Anio had a 12mp cam the Satio will still have better graphics, processor and touchscreen capabilities

Here's an example showing that Xenon is not always better as compared to LED

Taken by compact digicam with Xenon

Taken with W902 with LED

Needless to say, the W902 bears better resemblance to the actual ambience because Xenon is usually associated with faster shutter speed thus letting less light in which takes its toll from a certain distance. The W902 photo has better dynamics as you can see certain movements clearly which better depicts or to some extent, exaggerate the situation. Xenon is not everything all of the time.

I prefer the xenon one to be honest. Yes the second one is brighter, but is much worse compared. Just look at the woman moving, she is blurred however the girl in the first one is not. The lighting is also blurred in the LED one. It also has a tone of noise on it, and just looks generally bad.

@adsada
Remember we're talking about light quality since this is related to flash and not the W902 cam module per se. The blur as my edit earlier suggests, is not always bad, especially when you can't even see the face of the woman from the back. If anything, it enhances the actual situation giving it a certain dynamic. It's a sports day and it's nice to see things 'move' instead of keeping still
I happen to know a lot of people with DSLR's who disable their Xenons indoors to get a closer feel to the actual atmosphere. They get blurry pics, but they also get what they want in return, the real deal.

*edit*
Of course, this is purely academic, I would settle for an Aino with Xenon if there was one and disable it when I feel there's no need for it. But frankly, I don't feel like I'm losing much right now, and of course, my current W995 can outperform the above W902 photo any day where cam quality is concerned

Well I suppose it's how different people prefer photo's I want photos exactly as they seem if you were standing in the room and although it's darker it's still sharper and I like having detail in pictures. Of course everyone is different and has there own style of photography. In action photos I see what you mean about having blurred images but I believe that can only be successful with decent cameras. In the second photo, it just looks like a camera phone image and the 'blurred' effect does not work.

You would need a xenon flash large as a car to light up that room completely i think.

The led has 0 effect also and if you had shot the scenery with the flash of on the real digicam the shot would look different i think. The real digicam with flash off would look much better than the led phonepic.

You can see the range of the real digicam flash by looking at the people close. They look sharp and nice but the phonepic looks bad all the way and people who moves gets blurred out. Totally useless most times when people moves.

Of course, I made the comparison as a reference point for the lighting conditions, the W902 wasn't the best example but it was the only one I had to compare, I didn't realize the whole cam module would be under scrutiny as well so I took the liberty to share some more indoor moving shots with a didgicam without flash to further demonstrate my point

Some sharp bits and some blurry bits to give it a complete picture of the event, that's how it should be. Sharper is not always better

If it had a 12mp it would have cost 100$ more
I think the only thing SE should have done with Aino is a screen resolution of at least 320x480 like the iphone, and that's why I bought the Satio instead
