I find that the Magic Word feature is a bit buggy and needs improvement. It would dial at times it shouldnt and vice versa. Therefore, I dont use it.

My Magic Word is "Communicator". I don't enable my magic word when set as a handheld. Only when I use my handsfree, or when I'm in the car.
It drains way too much power during a normal day, and it's pointless to use while it's in your pocket or while having lunch... unless you just wanna show off. Hey, give it a break... even Star Trek guys need to tap their funny badge thing to call each other!
The Magic word for me, works well. I never had an accidental call. I used it ever since the R520 days.
BTW, the R520, T39, & T68 all had the magic word function...but only the R520 had a speakerphone w/ proximity sensor.

hey, how do u get that proximity senseor to work? it doesn't turn off the speakerphone when i put it up to my ear it just blasts the hell out of it!

They removed the proximity sensor on the P800... I'm glad they did.
To activate or deactivate the speakerphone on the P800, just open or close the flip accordingly.
Those of us who removed the flip... tough... we need to press the little virtual keypad button, or just use the jogdial to reduce volume.

Using the speakerphone without the flip is not such a problem. I don'thave the flip connected and use the speakerphone a lot. There are several ways.
1) If the virtual flip is closed then, after answering the call, you just open it and you're in speakerphone mode.
2) If the virtual flip is closed then, after answering the call, just use the jog dial to bring up the in call options menu and choose speakerphone.
3) If the phone is in PDA mode when you answer the call you can
a) Go to the vitual flip and open it.
b) Click on the speaker icon at the bottom of the screen and tick the speakerphone option.
c) Use the jog dial like in 2 above.
