W995 has decent sound quality i guess, nothing to write home about...
What i'd love to see is a full touch Aino type SE though, any word on whether the SE Java platform is getting full touch functionality???
I wouldn't get it,but i think once SE's Java platform goes full touch,it will destroy Samsung and LG touch javas.
SE still have a lot of potential, just look at them, releasing the most powerful devices in Android and Symbian, shows that they still are a force to be recond with...

Bonovox, indicate mp3 player (except the Sony Walkman), which has better sound than W995

...My guess it they want to move away from this sector and concentrate on iPhone rivals, just look at the 2010 range, it's mostly touch screen. I think this is a step forward, otherwise this year we would have seen maybe 5 new W series phones with crap features worse then the W995...
I just bought a C905 for my girlfriend and it is an outstanding phone. It sold well in the UK too I understand.
High end feature phones are so 2007, it's time you caught up with what's going on now.
These days a high end phone is one that is loaded with software features not hardware features. Why? Because hardware features go out of date and people get sick of buying an expensive phone every 5 mins or worse, getting one on a 2yr contract and becoming bored with it a year later when the 3.2Mp camera gets trounced by the newer 5.0Mp, 8.1Mp, 12Mp,... where does it end?
It ended with the iPhone. One day people woke up and saw that the hardware feature race was a joke and that software apps on a fancy touchscreen is the 'new black'. Hence Android was born, UIQ and S60 was merged into Symbian Foundation, Palm OS was scrapped and replaced with Web OS and WM is about to give way to Windows Phone 7 Series. Sony Ericsson are right to go for the new touchscreen smartphone formula because they are trying to maintain their high level of profit per phone - phones like the W995 and C905 are the new mid range.
have chosen to be high end and they need to be where high end is these days - software features (apps, integrated core features and a clever touch UI).

Music man anything made by Creative or most dedicated mp3 players like dedicated cameras will always have the edge over any phone imo
But like Gucci said if only
would release a full touch Java based range they would make a killing like Samsung & LG have. And not so expensive too. That too I would buy. Come on
impress me again

If only SE would make a phone with good music
and a good camera I would've spend my money at SE and not Nokia. Now I got a brand new N97 mini, which has both good music and a good camera. Maybe next year SE will come up with something nice, the new X10 series does not appeal to me at all.

Errrr Vivaz/Vivaz pro? and cheaper than N97 mini (well the Vivaz is anyway don't know about the pro) and look nice if you can put up with Symbian (I've got a N97 "Classic") which are the Vivazs' weak point.
On the original topic the simple truth is that SE basically did just make High End feature phones between 2007 and 2009 having effectively left their P series to rot and they've lost a fortune (they're lucky to still be in bsuiness having been bailed out by their parent companies and are just clinging on) and have lost a lot of market share when under Miles Flint they tried to move away from high end handsets to mass market feature phones ironically just at a point when software not features beame the driving factor.
As far as music goes all mp3's sound pretty rubbish it's a very lossey codec so really in a pair of headphones out on the street most differences are not that significantl. If I'm at home and want some quality I'll want to play a .wav or other lossless like Ogg
