- MPEG-4 Visual Simple Profile Level 0 decoder
These two video decoders are
optional to implement.

I read in those electronics engineering magazine and it seem H.263 is putting some threat to Mp4 std ...I remmeber TI and someone is making some new imporvement on chip to support H.263
maybe there might be another new conflict in 3G std....now
I think the network std is already split to 3 camp...it is just so sad tht no one can get one std for mobile telecommunication in this planet.

Pardon me, but the last time I checked... the word SHOULD means it HAS TO include the said formats.

That wouldn't have to happen if every vendor would support 3GPP standards. Unfortunately some of the vendors are just so bull-headed that they want to do things their in own way. In the end, the end user is the one who suffers (interoperability).

I guess you're not in the business... Mandatory and optional are the words that counts. You can of course check this from 3GPP if you're not taking my word.

So, first of all, EDGE is absolutetly not expensive to implement in a network, compared to the cost a full-fledged UMTS network implies.
Then, allowing a simple software upgrade to enable EDGE compatibility on phones, sounds, well... too good to be true, doesn't it? Nonetheless, EDGE is mainly a higher compressed variant of gprs, where you can bundle more slots, so, perhaps, a software-upgrade could do. But I wouldn't count on it...
And after all, I don't need a phone that I can stream a movie on. Sounds like bs to me. Why would you want that? I mean, the cute little movies on the p800 are nice, but I don't see any other use than showing it off to your friends. But when it comes to fun, I still prefer my home-cinema with 6 speakers and a big tv-screen...
Some day perhaps, when we all have implanted lcd screens in our eyes, and the phone can send the movie in dvd quality directly into the brain, well... I might reconsider. But for now, I'm all set.

So doesn't that mean that if the device supports mp4, it also supports H263 Profile 0 Level 10? Since the H263 is
mandatory, and device that supports mp4 means that they opted to include the
optional protocol???

streamed using RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) session control according to 3GPP

Audio support is AAC and GSM-AMR according to 3GPP
