@nigelot1, Well your claim that voicemail is "very expensive in UK" is not correct if your being ripped off thats your fault, i NEVER pay for voicemail on my Orange contract, & i dont pay a monthly contract payment either, so it really IS free.
@kolhatkar, it`s not always the case in UK that your voicmail comes out of your free minutes, if your network offers this then you may have to specify it.

pachy said- if your being ripped off thats your fault

something I perceive expensive is not the same as me being ripped off.

Obviously when you buy something you perceive to be expensive, you feel ripped off

Shame

@nigelot,when you check in the dictionary under "ripped off" it just says "Vodafone"

Ok ok, if you live in an area where you have to use them thats fair enough.

But I dont

OK, then,
i get free voicemail,
i have a contract that cost me NOTHING a month,
i have had free MMS for 2 months,
i can use the free voicemail to record a long spoken message to all of my friends who have free voicmail,& choose what time they recieve it & they can send back a recorded reply ALL FOR FREE 24hrs a day.
All calls to customer services are free & open 24hrs,
I don`t pay for 0800 numbers either , so i can use a calling card company for all my voice calls, 2p off peak, 3p peak, (YES 3p PEAK)
I they loose the conection while i`m in a call (very rare) Orange credit me with free minutes,
Free itemised billing
I also have a Orange pay as u go phone i carry, with 5 free sms a day for ever as long as it`s in credit, after which they are 5p each, voicemail on this sim IS charged but i don`t pay because i can access it free from my contract phone,
I use mobiles for ALL my calls (i have a landline only for internet) & my bills show i use around 1,500 mins a month, & my Orange bills are NEVER more than £5,
Believe me YOUR BEING RIPPED OFF.

A few years ago Orange UK introduced a package caalled OVP (Orange value promise) this gave you the choice of having a contract with orange which is charged at the rate of another network lots of us went for the virgin taffif, (when you first get it you have to buy a phone for about £70 which you can sell straight away for about £50) so you end up with an Orange contract with a phone number for life with no monthly payments EVER but all the benifits of an Orange contract, Ie free voicemail, free 0800 numbers ETC, if you have this contract & dont use calling cards for all your calls like we all do it`s still not bad at 15p for first 5 mins per day then 5p after that including Orange to Orange, but to be honest why pay that when you can use companies like !tel & Telco for all your calls using calling crds.
The Orange answerphone is brilliant aswell because you set up codes for all your contacts instead of their mobile number you just dial voicemail, put in the code, record the message & send it all for free, then the other person gets it for free & can send back ETC, you can even send the same message to loads of people in one go.
We have all been using this system for 3 years now, however some people just can`t be bothered to get into it because it`s alot to take onboard.
I treat it like a hobby, screwing the system in a perfectly legal way, thats why i can be online all day when others are out working to pay their bills,
