Wouldn't use 'spray paint' though. Could you imagine residual paint sticking to the chassie? Ugh!

Yes this must work!

But you have to use foliatec plastic primer and plastic paint - the only way to paint it! This paint is made for coloring dashboards of Cars an so on. It is unremovable and "works itself into the plastic" - don't know how to explain it in english better

Here you can get it:

I used such a spray myself (not for a P800) and it works great! But it's not "shiny" and there is no metallic. But with this spray you can realize "Mineral Grey" and it will look like factory work!

Most paints will be fine on plastic surface if you use a plastice primer because it "plasticises" the aplied paint, metalic paint can also be used as long as you use a 2 pack laquer over the top, (most factory phone finnish`s are this). BUT painting a p800 is not a problem, i found how the covers come off last night.
What IS a problem for me is locating the "rubbery feel" product, that dashboard stuff just dries matt & is not grippy.
I will try to follow up on the "Teflon" theory.

I'll be using Revell model-paint. This stuff sticks to plastic like there's no tomorrow!

Wouldn't TAMIYA model paint work well? It is made for plastic and has a wide range of 'textures'.

Tamiya chips too easily. I've tried both on my models, and find the Revell model paints to be a superior quality.

If I use the "Blue" revell gloss spray (clear blue laquer), I'll actually just add a thin laquer layer on top of the P800 light blue; the original "metallic" finish AND the SE logos will still shine through, but with more depth. This could be cool.

@ejasim,pachy - I managed to disassembly the p800 myself! there are only 4 screws and some clicks(I don't know the right word). One click is just over the MS Duo slot on the right side and one is below. All You can see if you take off the battery. Then you have to disconnect the jogdial. DELICATE! Next 2screws are holding the mainboard. If someone interested I'll try to send some photos... Regards! Peter This message was posted from a P800

@rashkae- i thought of getting some extra housing too and paint it. the local service point sells a complete array. i have a couple of concerns though. yes, the stylus would be of a different color (if you color it, the paint might stick to the gray part where it lies)... the keypad can go. doesnt matter. and yes, where could we get the transfers for the "Sony Ericsson" label and the "M" label of the memory stick at the back...?

What about the :se: logo at the back of the p800? Will you paint it as well or just keep its originals colors? This message was posted from a T68i

@ferrarista I think there will be mineral gray p800. In 007 the Zao's p800 is Original Sony Ericsson-it has a Sony Ericsson on the faceplate. Regards! Peter This message was posted from a P800
