Hey, Gizmo, I got the same problem with T300 as a GPRS modem, but with a Serial cable.
I found some ideas, that one has to use some standard low-bps modems.
I gonna try it today.
If you find some solution, please, share it to everybody, or e-mail me please (d_o_ivanov@mail.ru)

The T68i DOES at least work both with standard serial modem drivers (windows: "standard 28800bps modem" over a serial cable), AND it does work with the standard IR modem drivers on my old Psion Series 5 palmtop. It wouldn't surprise me if the T300 can do the same thing.
You can use GPRS on both. Just enter *99# as the number to your ISP in the connection settings and the phone's standard GPRS account will connect.

I an sorry to tell you that you only can use ir for the T300 modem. I went through this a long time ago.

Do you know if it accepts only the Ericsson proprietary drivers or if it can work as a "standard IR modem" ?

I use my T300 with my laptop.
I use it as standard modem over IR, for both GPRS and CSD
