To select a file/folder in file manager, click on the icon on the left, rather than the filename. Clicking the filename open the file.

i've put the voicerecorder on the 5th position of the shortcuts. It's very easy to reach just by turning the magic wheel down as long as you like (or up when you assigned it to the first shortcut position).
With the flip closed (and of course with the virtual flip on) a small voicerecorder window is shown - with all commonly used features.
Does it answer your question?

Yes as said above, you can set voice recording as one of options to activate in flip closed.
Was hoping the button mapping application would let me configure to blue button as the voice recorder to work in flip closed. Not tried yet as my P800 is being FIRMED up at SE

As far as I know I havent changed my flip closed shortcuts (and i formatted the other day) and it's there if you go to Applications ( # ) then Voice Memo.
Works fine here.

...however, the voice recorder does not work when you're in a call, a feature the T68i had, which was very useful...

Yes lot of T68 good things are missing here on the P800, SE learn of your own products and copy them

Alot of things should be accessible from the jogdial with flip closed.
I would say that Bluetooth-ON/OFF and voice recorder are definitly things that should be accessible when the flip is closed.
Both apps. are available and do work with the flip closed.
Bluetooth - Press key top right of keypad, select # (Applications), press 9 for connections. Voila select bluetooth options. Same format can be used for recording voice memo from list with flip closed.
