lost all my data twice, dont really cry that much about it..
so what you lost all your SMS, are they really that important? Think of all those nokia users who can save max 20 SMS! and the mail, surely you downloaded your mail to your outlook somewhere? and if you havent downloaded your mail, it is still on the server!
but it`s a pity loosing the MMS! I lost some really cool MMS`s last time my phone formatted itself, some that I made my self also!
Now I have learned, I always have about 2MB free space in the internal memory

Ever heard of Nokia pc-suite? Transfer your sms's back and forth between your phone and pc? And which Nokia is it that only allowes 20 saved sms's?

maybe this will be a lesson to us. it doesnt mean the p800 is bad... we're just not contented everytime. we always search for something better. one mistake and walla! u say you hate SE.
i don't have much files on my p800... and i couldn't imagine having 1000 sms/mms stored.
there is a solution for your problem petter, next time... when you think you have a whole lot of stuff on your phone, back it up! better to be safe than sorry. (just a piece of advice)

But you should have been warned !
This is a known bug (or fault) - if the memory is full, it is very likely to lock up and need a hard reset.
So the lesson is - do not allow the internal memory to be filled up to the limit. Always leave at least 3-4MB free. If you frequnetly get MMS. beware!
Also it runs slower if there is not much free internal memory.

As usual, I'm a little confused.
It's got the little memory stick doesn't it? Can't you put it into a reader (only about $20?) and get the data off of it with your PC before you reformat it?
Or is it some format that the PC won't understand?

I've never had a problem yet in 2 months. I use my P800 a lot, have installed and uninstalled many pieces of software. It's never crashed or had the "10 second" thing.
One of the posts I read when I got the phone said to leave about 15 to 20% of the internal memory free. I've done that and never had a single problem. Maybe that's the answer .....
