Although I have a T300 , my friends got a T68i on the Orange Network and absolutely with no problems, maybe your particular piece was a bad one. Just chill and get it changed ....

I am on my third T68i. First the 4 button wouldn't work. Then it was deleting my contacts. All of them have had bad reception. My mom has a 8390 which is a gsm phone too. She is on the same company as and she gets better service but by that much.My friend has a Motorola T720i and his is GSM on ATT too and his gets amazing service. What About the T610?I don't want a phone that I can usually never call someone with.

I was browsing old posts looking for something and I just couldn't resist this one

Yannick: thank god i live in belgium and 99 % of the country is covered

Come on, how many towers it takes to cover the whole country? 2?

Maybe they need bad treatment!.. I treat my phones very bad, including my T68i and the T610... I chew it, throw it to the walls and mostly drop it by mistake (which happens a lot)... It has teeth marks all over the cover and the battery but it works as good as the first day I bought it... Once, the YES button stopped working, and even after the warranty period was over, they changed the thingy under the buttons for free...

I've carried many a triband phone through all of Florida and California. While I can report steady signal when at home on any phone no wonder...... there is not a single spot in my country not covered by a GSM network ) obviously I had signal drops while in the USA.

Now this is NOT because of the phone, but because of network lapses in the USA.

Dear topic starter, ask your provider for a map showing their coverage in your state and you will find vast areas without coverage, even in populated areas such as the south of Florida. Mind you, I lost my signal about 5 miles from Miami Int'l airport..... not a place to expect such a thing but it happened.

As much as you think your area is totally covered, it is not.

Its weird in a way, the USA, one of the most technological advanced countires but their gsm networks are crap compared to europe and the UK. Plus some one said gsm is fairly new, how come america are so behind. I mean they are normaly in front of europe with other devices. I have to agree though, signals in the UK aren't as strong as on samsungs, but I have never had to much of a problem with the singal on my T610, yes it may not always be full strength but I can make a call or send a txt easily. I think instead of blaming the T68i you should find a decent network which has better coverage.

I guess that Vlammetje is right about GSM 1900. I quote: "Now this is NOT because of the phone, but because of network lapses in the USA."

And Wapt made a good point. I quote again: "The network side, RF GSM 900M is much better than 1900M. North American 1900M carriers need more radio towers to get good radio coverage."

I want to add, that one radio tower of GSM 900 gives much wider coverage than GSM 1900. Also GSM 900 gives good coverage inside buildings because of much better penetration.

Though the one radio tower of GSM 1900 (or GSM 1800) gives more GSM-channels (canals) for users in that area than GSM 900.
