I think Mobipocket is really a very good ebook reader. The major two things that could be improved are the addition of a full screen view and a fix for the fact that if you don't exit the application before turning off the phone you lose your current place in the book.
I have now read 4 books and on my 5th.
Regards,

Mobipocket is great. Although you have to set the backlight on A bit annoying whenit starts to swich off and on. With a good lamp it is possible to even read withot the backlight.
For books try search engines. There are a lot of free books around They do not have to be only for mobipocket as it reads other formats also.

Try
www.fictionwise.com
Not free books, but a nice selection and most are available in Mobipocket format.
Thanks to everyone who replied to this topic. The ease of reading ebooks is my biggest concern about buying a P800. This has helped...

Maybe I am wrong and the mobipocket opens only books meant for it. Maybe I got confused that you can open text files with it.
But still it is great.

MobiPocket can read txt, html, pdb, doc formats. It also supports downloading news feeds, similar to but not as good as Avantgo.

One thing that happened to me:
I upgraded my P800 to R2D and then reinstalled all my apps again. I registered Mobipocket with the reg code as normal, everything was OK. When I copied all of my books to my Memory stick and tried to access them, it gave me an error message that I had the wrong PID #. That is the number that mobipocket on your P800 gives you to enter into their web site to download books that you buy. I don't know why Mobipocket assigned a new PID code after the upgrade, it is the only program that had this problem. Anyway I just entered in the new code from my P800 Mobipocket and re-downloaded all the books. It was kind of a pain though until I figured out what was going on.
Moral to the story:
If you upgrade to R2D chances are you will have to re-download all your (paid) books from the Mobipocket web site, enter in the new PID number that Mobipocket assigns to your P800.
