Yeah, does anyone know how it can crash when its in your pocket (keylocked, etc, flip closed)? I was on the bus yesterday, and pulled it out to make a call, and notice the funny triangle, so i had to reset, any reason for this?

EDIT: Had my phone for over month and half, crashed about 3-4 times since, 1 due to installing new app, and i cant remember why for the other three times. Not a big problem though, anyone can live with it (unless it happens every 11 seconds), just hold a button for 10sec for fix.

I don't actually think the WTOD is anything to do with 3rd party apps at all, although this is based on opinion and experience, not fact.

In 99% of the cases when Ive had it (less than 10 since february) Ive been composing a sms in flip open, with pretty crap signal.

Im R1D and it doesn't bother me at all... if it did i would upgrade.

To say that having restarting a device like this once or twice a month makes it unstable is totally ludicrous.

Never had the triangle yet !!

Had the P800 for about 10 weeks, installed & de-installed lots of software and no crashes whatsoever.

Maybe I'm just lucky .....

I had a problem with my phone a while ago where any time I tried to access my contacts, the phone would either lock up for 30 secs+, or I'd get the triangle of death.

I couldnt even receive any calls, because the phone would search the contacts database for the phone number of the person calling, and it would hang.

Now to me it looked like a problem with the contacts database, but it turned out to be a beta piece of software I had installed earlier that day which didnt even use the contacts database! I cant remember which software it was now, but uninstalling it cured the problem.

You'll find a lot of people both on Esato and other P800 forums who have found that uninstalling a recently installed piece of software cures crashing problems. I'm not saying that the P800 firmware is bug-free, as nothing ever is, but it does appear to be very stable in its standard form.

R2D also crashes from time to time... but since its not like every day - it doesn't bother me much...

It crashed just two days ago - after I finished quite long VNC session (I am using VNC, because Java application which is used for selling tickets consumes too much P800 Resources).

Anyway, I am really satisfied with my P800.

@Andy C

I agree, it could be cell related.

Or, more likely, it could be that JotPro doesn't like people who write too fast.

a friend of mine kept ongetting theses messages and eventually an error message popped up saying he needed to format the phone. since hes done this he has not had one problem with his phone. we think it has eraised all the operator (t-mobile) settings and software which is a good thing because we think that what was causing all the problems
