I exported a file from the calendar in outlook:
file/import and export/commar seperated values (windows)
It saves it into a kind of excel file. You can edit this file and add new dates to it (all the required fields are there) and then save it. THen try and import it back into outlook. It works fine. In theory you could put this file on the web and people could download it and put it into their outlook. Whether they would trust you with all the virus's flying around is a different matter.

How did you manage to get it to work in Outlook? I have tried a few times and the process seems to work but my imported calendar entries do not appear! I am doing a simple CSV export, edit in notepad, import. I am just trying it with my work Outlook 2000 which is configured a bit strange, so I will try again at home, but I don't see why it isn't working! These files would be very easy to generate and as they are only CSV, there shouldn't be any risk of viruses - people can just open them and see the text inside - there is a more greater risk of viruses in .sis files.

Hmm, It's strange it is not wotking for you. I basically did what I said in my post. Exported a file to see what it looked like. Opened it and then copied a line of the file. Then I edited the dates and time and info and saved it. Then imported it back in re started outlook and there was the info I had added and imported. I am using OL2000.
Let me know how you get on and if you can get it to work. If not I will document exactly how I did it.

Cheers epscilon,
I'll try it again at some point, but was just thinking; if thumbandit or anyone else wanted to distribute these calendar import files, they could easily use this sort of method to load their calendar, and then save the calendar again as a .pst file. There shouldn't be any problem with anyone loading these files, and it would be minimal effort for the distributor.

it would indeed be a quick and easy way of doing what this post orinally set out to do. Though it would be nice to be able to update the p800 calendar directly.

directly would be the ideal way but as every1 who has a p800 has the usb docking station and will most likely be using a pc to view the site then via outlook is a very good option

You could use the vcal-format. It is supported by both Outlook and more importantly P800 WITHOUT the use of Outlook at all. You could perhaps download a .vcal from your site and then beam/transfer/whatever it to P800 if you are not using Outlook.
