To aem kei:

Thanks for your reply. I can use 'Search' like anyone else and I've spent hours reading through 100's of interesting posts relating to the hissing problem but didn't find a definitive answer to my query, hence my post.

Strange how you can be bothered to post such a derogatory response, but not a link to a previous post that supposedly answers my question.

Why don't you use your brain and think "Now, why would he be asking if he'd already found the answer?"

To everyone else:

Thanks! It's good to know there are some helpful, pleasant people on here (must just be the Belgians who are rude!).

really sorry for that answer... was a bit (or alot) impollite

but the problem is i work in a Cellphone shop in belgium and everybody who knows that (alot of peeps ) keep emailing me about hissing here and hissing there... and last days it was ALWAYS about that hissing problem... and the funny part is that the T610 is not for sale here in belgium at this moment...

and i keep reading here all the time about the hissing, and it was a bit to much for me...

So I'M REALLY REALLY sorry for that rude answer!!!!

and now for an answer on your Q:

no it's not possible to see it at all becaus eit's not a SW problem but a hardware problem...
next batch of T610's that are delivered have no hissing...

Just got my new t610 frm orange network here in hong kong today which they claimed they received today and was frm the second batch. well BIG disappointment....it still has this annoying hissing sound. FOr those who say that this hissing sound is not noticeable...please it is the most annoying sound if u are using it in a quiet environment like at home or office coz u definately hear it and it bugs u that u buy a new phone and has this defect. i really wonder when will sony ericsson do something about it ? as i bought the phone 2 weeks ago..returned it and today got it a new one frm network which they received frm the second batch but no luck !

well, when ur outdoors the hissing isnt a big issue, dont think u can even notice it, but yes for sure, when ur sitting at home, and if u r speakin on the mobile for 10 mins + (say to ur GF) it gets really annoying after a while. I usually speak a lot on my mobile, and for a continuos periods (30 mins, 1 hr, etc etc), so it get irritating after a while, HOPE this gets solved soon

You can actually check the speaker if you go into the service menu. Move the joystick and push the star like this >*.

... but the hissing sound can't be found just by testing the speaker in the service menu, you need to make a call to really check if it has the hissing sound.

Ummm, SE has stated that this is a software problem, and that they are fixing it with a firmware update. The next batch of phones have this update allready.

So, those who bought need not worry it seems.

Hey, there are nice Belgians to! It was a good question, but i think at the moment all the T610s have that hissing sound. But not everyone noticed it, because its only hearable in a realy quit environment. The first T65s had the same problem. Just wait till SE has fixed the problem and releases an upgraded T610 ore just buy it like me. The hissing wont be that bad i guess This message was posted from a T68i

The soundproblem on T65 and on T610 are from two different sources... on T65 it was caused by the background light and could be heard as soon as the light was on, the soundproblem on T610 can only be heard during calls and is not caused by the light...
