You should be able to change from pre pay to pre pay keeping your number. I changed from orange pre pay to genie contract. As for gprs, the help people didnt even know what i was talking about when i rang a little while ago!

Back in December 2000 I ordered the SIM only deal, and somehow the SIM card was lost before it ever reached my door. Securicor (also owned by BT) managed to loose it, and the SIM got into the hands of someone else (who made around 100 pounds worth of calls from it). I tried calling the phone number of the SIM. Someone answered and then hung up. It took 3 phone calls from me to Genie before "customer services" actually blocked the SIM. It then took around 2 months of persistent calls before they agreed to not debit my account with the bill that the thief had run up, and send me a new SIM card. After using the phone for about 3 months, the SIM was blocked because I had apparently not paid the first bill (the 100 pounds again I pressume). Amazingly it only took one call to unblock it!
I decided to cancel my Genie account in January this year, and have just succesfully completed the procedure. Yes, 2 months later. It took 7 emails and 4 calls to "customer services" to achieve this.
If you think you'll have no problems with your phone then go ahead and get a Genie account. Just remember that it is good value because they cut costs elsewhere. Customer services is a nightmare of being passed around from one phone number to another, to sending emails that come back with auto-generated replies, or taking 10 days to be responded to (if at all), to being promised that you will be called back or emailed confirmation (which never happened once!). Genie owe me money because they didn't end my contract 30 days from the 1st day that I requested it, but to be honest I can live with that, rather than go through any more hassle. I am all for a quiet life

I think you can tranfer your number if you are going on a 12 month contract but not on Pay As You Go.
Genie is powered by BT Cellnet. If you choose a contracted you have 600 free text message and free WAP.
I never use it for voice calls. Because I have a vodafone contract as well

Its a offer they are having i guess... 300 free txt messages and free WAP as long as you put £10 credit every 30 days onto the card. 300 free txt messages is cool...
Not to sure about the WAP though..Im on Vodaphone contract and so far its great. I get 50 free txt messages on that contract as it is!!
Genie normally charge £4.99 for that SIM that i ordered... so im happy..

I got one of their pay and go sim cards for free, but i've lost it lol. god knows where i left it lying around. probably fallen under my bed or something lol.

It say's free wap...i guess that doesnt mean free e-mail though?...seen as i've got the communicam, i'd want to be able to send the pics.

when you call 'customer services' they either don't answer at all or they really annoyingly pick-up the phone and then cut you off, and I'm sure that it's on purpose!

they were free before christmas during a promotion then they went back to 9.99 or 15.99, now they're £4.99 on the genie.co.uk website...was this recent? i know they like to hide the giveaways.
